అష్టాదశ శక్తిపీఠాలు

     ఉత్తరప్రదేశ్, కాశీ (వారణాశి) క్షేత్రం నందు హైందవ మతం ఉజ్జ్వల శోభతో వెలిగి నాలుగు ప్రక్కలకు విస్తరించింది. పూర్వం కాశికాపురి గా పిలిచేవారు. దీనినే ముక్తి కాశిక మరియు బెనారస్ అని కూడ పిలుస్తారు. కాశీ క్షేత్రం నందు పావన గంగానదీ ఉత్తర వాహినిగా ప్రవహిస్తుంది. నదీ తీరం లో 64 స్నాన ఘట్టాలు కలవు. ఇవి భక్తుల పాపాలున్నీ కడిగివేసి నిష్కళంకులుగా తరింప చేస్తున్నాయి. 64 ఘాట్ లో " మీర్ ఘాట్ " కూడ ఉంది. దీనికి సమీపంలో శ్రీ విశాలక్షీ ఆలయం ఉంటుంది. శ్రీ విశ్వనాథ్ స్వామి ఆలయం నుంచి కూడ మార్గం కలదు. ఇరుకైన సందులలో ప్రయాణం.  స్ధానికులు మార్గం చెప్పగలరు.

     అష్టాదశ శక్తిపీఠాలలో 17వ శక్తిపీఠం శ్రీ విశాలాక్షిదేవి. విశాలాక్షి ఆలయం నందు రెండు మూల విరాట్టులు ఉంటాయి. ఒక రూపం స్వయంభువు, మరొక రూపం అర్చామూర్తి. ఆలయంలోకి ప్రవేశించగానే మొదట అర్చామూర్తిని, వెనుక  స్వయంభువు మూర్తి దర్శనమిస్తాయి. ముందు భాగమున గల విగ్రహమును శ్రీ జగుద్గురు ఆదిశంకరాచార్యులు ప్రతిష్టించారు. అమ్మ వారి నేత్రములు విశాలముగా ఉంటాయి. విశాలాక్షి అంటే విశాలమైన కన్నులు కలది అని అర్థం. మందిరం నందు అమ్మవారి పీఠం మధ్యలో ఉంటుంది. అమ్మవారి పీఠం చుట్టూ ప్రదక్షిణ చేయుటకు వీలుగా ఉంటుంది. ప్రదక్షిణ మార్గములో శివలింగములు, గణపతి మూర్తులు దర్శనమిస్తారు. విశాలాక్షి అమ్మకు నిత్యం అర్చనలు జరుగుతాయి. భాద్రపద, శుక్ల తదియ నాడు అమ్మ వారి జన్మ దినం సందర్భముగా విశేష పూజలు, వివిధ కార్యక్రమాలు జరుగుతాయి. అమ్మవారి ఎడమవైపున గల మందిరంలో అమ్మవారి వాహనములు, నవగ్రహమండపం ఉన్నాయి.

      విశాలాక్షి ఆలయం నకు సమీపంలో మీర్ ఘాట్ ఉంటుంది. భక్తులు పవిత్ర గంగానదిలో స్నానం చేస్తారు. ఆలయంలో పూజలు, నైవేద్యాలు, దేవత స్తోత్రాల పఠనం మొదలగునవి నిర్వహించుతారు. విశాలాక్షి మందిరములో జరిగే కుంకుమార్చన సుప్రసిద్ధం. అమ్మ తమ భక్తులకు సమస్త సంపదలనూ ప్రసాదిస్తుంది. భక్తుల కోరికలు నెరవేర్చగల జగన్మాతగా ప్రసిద్ధి. ఇక్కడ చేసే దానధర్మాలు అత్యంత ఫలవంతమైనదిగా పరిగణించబడుతుంది. వరుడు కోసం పెళ్లికాని అమ్మాయిలు, సంతానం కోసం సంతానం లేని జంటలు మరియు  మహిళలు సిరి సంపదలుతో కూడిన సౌబాగ్యం కోసం ప్రత్యేకంగా అమ్మవారిని పూజిస్తారు. ఆలయంలో రెండు ముఖ్యమైన పండుగలు. దేవి నవరాత్రులు మరియు వసంత నవరాత్రులు (చైత్ర మాసం). చైత్ర నవరాత్రులలో పంచమి రోజున నవ గౌరీగా విశాలాక్షి అమ్మవారి ప్రత్యేక దర్శనం ఉంటుంది. భాద్రపదలో కాజలి టిజ్ జరుపుకుంటారు. కాజలి (నలుపు) అని పిలిచే "రసిక" వర్షాకాల పాటలు పాడతారు. మహిళలు సోదరుల సంక్షేమం కోసం ప్రత్యేకంగా పవిత్ర దినాన్ని పాటిస్తారు.

    దేశం నలుమూలల నుంచి వారణాశి కు రైలు సర్వీసులు కలవు. రైల్వే స్టేషన్ దగ్గరలో బస్ స్టాండ్ ఉంటుంది. రైల్వే స్టేషన్ నుంచి గాదౌలియా జంక్షన్ వరకు షేరింగ్ ఆటోలు దొరుకుతాయి. గాదౌలియా జంక్షన్ కు సమీపంలో శ్రీ విశ్వేశ్వరాలయం ఉంటుంది. ఒకే సందులో అన్నపూర్ణ దేవి ఆలయం మరియు శ్రీ విశ్వనాథ్ స్వామి ఆలయం  ఉన్నాయి. వీటికి సుమారు అర కీ.మీ దూరంలో శ్రీ విశాలక్షీ ఆలయం ఉంటుంది.

Varanasi Visalakshi

In the Kshetra of Uttar Pradesh, Kashi (Varanasi) the Hindu religion shines brightly and spreads on all four sides. Formerly known as Kashikapuri. It is also known as Mukti Kasika and Benaras. In Kashi Kshetra, Pavana Ganges flows as the northern channel. There are 64 bathing ghats on the river bank. These wash away all the sins of the devotees and make them spotless. 64 Ghat also has "Mir Ghat". Near this is Sri Visalakshi Temple. There is also a way from Sri Vishwanath Swamy temple. Travel through narrow lanes. Locals can tell the way.

The 17th Shaktipeeth of the Ashtadasa Shaktipeeths is Sri Visalakshi Devi. Visalakshi temple has two main shrines. One form is Swayambhu, the other is Archamurthy. On entering the temple, one sees Archamurthy first, followed by Swayambhumurthy. The statue in front was installed by Sri Jagudguru Adisankaracharya. Amma's eyes are wide. Visalakshi means wide-eyed. In the shrine, the Goddess's Peetha is in the middle. It is possible to circumambulate around the goddess's pedestal. Shiva lingams and Ganapati idols can be seen on the circumambulation route. Prayers are regularly performed to Amma Visalakshi. On Bhadrapada and Shukla Tadiya special pujas and various programs are held on the occasion of Amma's birthday. In the shrine to the left of the Goddess are the Vahanams of the Goddess and the Navagrahamandapam.

Near Visalakshi Temple is Mir Ghat. Devotees bathe in the holy Ganges. Pujas, offerings, recitation of deity stotras etc. are performed in the temple. Kumkumarchana which takes place in Visalakshi Mandir is well known. Amma bestows all wealth to her devotees. Known as Jaganmata who fulfills the wishes of devotees. Charity done here is considered most fruitful. Unmarried girls for a groom, childless couples for a child and women especially worship the goddess for prosperity with riches. There are two important festivals in the temple. Devi Navratras and Vasant Navratras (month of Chaitra). Chaitra Navratri has a special darshan of Goddess Visalakshi as Nava Gauri on Panchami. Kajali Tiz is celebrated in Bhadrapada. They sing "rasika" monsoon songs called kajali (black). Women observe the holy day specially for the welfare of the brothers.

There are train services to Varanasi from all over the country. There is a bus stand near the railway station. Sharing autos are available from the railway station to Gadaulia Junction. Sri Visveshwara Temple is located near Gadaulia Junction. Annapurna Devi Temple and Sri Vishwanath Swamy Temple are located in the same lane. About half a km away from these is Sri Visalakshi Temple.
