తమిళనాడు, కాంచీపురం జిల్లా, కంచి కామాక్షి అమ్మవారి దేవాలయం చాల ప్రసిద్ధి. తమిళనాడు రాజధాని చెన్నై నగరానికి సుమారు 70 కి.మీ దూరంలో కాంచీపురం ( కంచి) ఉంది. దీనిని కాంజీపురం అని కూడ పిలుస్తారు. సప్త మోక్షపురాలల్లో కంచి ఒకటి. 4వ శతాబ్దం నుండి 9వ శతాబ్దం వరకు పల్లవ రాజులు కాంచీపురం రాజధానిగా పరిపాలించినారు. పల్లవులు ఎన్నో దేవాలయాలు కంచిలో నిర్మించారు. వీటిలో శ్రీ కామాక్షి అమ్మవారి దేవాలయం ముఖ్యమైనది. కామాక్షి అమ్మవారు పద్మాసనం, యోగ ముద్రలో ఉండటం ప్రత్యేకత. అష్టాదశ 18 శక్తి పీఠాలలో కామాక్షి పీఠం ఒకటి. జగద్గురు శ్రీ ఆది శంకరాచార్యులు వారు అమ్మ వారి ఉగ్రరూపం శాంత పరచటానికి శ్రీచక్ర యంత్రం స్థాపించినారు. శ్రీచక్రానికే పూజలు జరుగుతాయి. దేవాలయంలో గర్భగుడి ఎదుట గాయత్రీ మండపం , అరూపలక్ష్మి , స్వరూపాలక్ష్మి విగ్రహాలు ఉన్నాయి.
శ్రీ కామాక్షి అమ్మవారి దేవాలయం చాల విశాలముగా, చుట్టూ ప్రహరీ గోడలతో ఉంటుంది. ప్రధాన రాజ గోపురం తూర్పు అభిముఖంగా ఉంది. దేవాలయం లోపల మూడు ప్రాకారములు కలవు. మొదటి ప్రాకారములో శ్రీ కామాక్షి అమ్మవారు దర్శనమిస్తారు. మొదటి ప్రాకారములో అరూలక్ష్మీ, శాంత స్ధంభం, అర్ధనారీశ్వరుడు, అన్నపూర్ణా దేవి, శ్రీ చక్రం దర్శనమిస్తాయి. ఆలయం వెనుక భాగములో చక్కటి కోనేరు కలదు. మూడవ ప్రాకారములో ఆగ్నేం మూల నిత్యాన్నదానం మండపం ఉంది. అమ్మవారి ఉత్సవములు, రథోత్సవం ఫిబ్రవరి - మార్చి మధ్య జరుగుతాయి. తూర్పు గాలి గోపురం నకు ఈశాన్యం దిశలో విశ్రాంతి భవననం కలదు. తూర్పు గాలి గోపురం బయట పూజ సామగ్రి విక్రయించు షాపులు ఉంటాయి. ఈ ప్రాంతములోనే యాత్ర నివాస్ కలదు. ఇచ్చట యాత్రికులకు మంచి వసతలు ఉంటాయి. కాంచీపురం బస్ స్టాండ్ వద్ద లాడ్జీలు & భోజన శాలలు ఉంటాయి. వీటితో పాటు టాక్సీలు, ఆటోలు కూడ ఉంటాయి.
ఆర్కోణం - చెంగల్ పట్ రైలు మార్గములో కాంచీపురం రైల్వే స్టేషన్ ఉంది. ఈ మార్గములో Local Trains ఉన్నాయి. వీటితో పాటు ప్యాసింజర్ రైలు, Express trains & Weekly trains కూడ ఉంటాయి. కాంచీపురం రైల్వే స్టేషన్ మరియు కాంచీపురం బస్ స్టాండ్ మధ్య దూరం సుమారు నాలుగు (4) కీల్లో మిటార్లు గా ఉంటుంది. రవాణా సౌకర్యములు ఉంటాయి.
కాంచీపురం నడిబొడ్డున బస్ స్టేషన్ కలదు. తిరుపతి, ఆర్కోణం, వెల్లూరు, చిత్తూరు, తిరువణ్ణామలై, చెంగల్ పట్టు, చెన్నై మొదలగు ప్రాంతములు నుంచి కాంచీపురం నకు బస్సులు ఉంటాయి. కాంచీపురం బస్ స్టేషన్ Ingate వద్ద శక్తి గణపతి హోటల్ మరియు Outgate వద్ద కూడ మంచి పలహారం & భోజన శాల కలదు. Outgate వద్ద Auto stand కూడ ఉంది. కాంచీపురం నందు శ్రీ కామక్షి ఆలయం, శ్రీ ఏకాంబరనాథన్ (శివాలయం), శ్రీ వరదరాజన్ ఆలయం (విష్ణ్వాలయం) దర్శనీయం. వీటితో పాటు శ్రీ కైలాస నాథన్, శ్రీ కచ్ఛపేశ్వర్, కుమారాలయం మొదలగు శైవాలయాలు మరియు 14 దివ్యదేశాలు (వైష్ణవాలయాలు) ఉన్నాయి. కంచి ఆలయాలు సందర్శించుటకు టాక్సీ/ఆటోలు దొరుకుతాయి. ఓపిక/శక్తి (patience/energy) ఉంటే ఒక రోజులో చూడవచ్చును.

Tamil Nadu, Kancheepuram District, Kanchi Kamakshi Ammavari Temple is very famous. Kancheepuram (Kanchi) is about 70 km away from Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. It is also known as Kanjeepuram. Kanchi is one of the seven Mokshapuras. Kanchipuram was ruled by the Pallava kings from the 4th century to the 9th century. Pallavas built many temples in Kanchi. Among these, Sri Kamakshi Ammavari Temple is important. Goddess Kamakshi is special in Padmasana, yoga mudra. Kamakshi Peetha is one of the 18 Shakti Peethas of Ashtadasa. Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya established Srichakra Yantra to appease Amma's wrath. Sri Chakra is worshiped. The temple has Gayatri Mandapam, Arupalakshmi and Swarupalakshmi idols in front of the sanctum sanctorum.
The temple of Sri Kamakshi Ammavari is very spacious and surrounded by protective walls. The main Raja Gopuram faces east. There are three prakarams inside the temple. Sri Kamakshi Amma appears in the first prakaram. Arulakshmi, Shanta Sdhambham, Ardhanarishwar, Annapurna Devi and Sri Chakra appear in the first Prakaram. There is a beautiful corner at the back of the temple. In the third prakara there is Agnem Mula Nityannadanam Mandapam. Ammavari Utsavam and Rathotsavam are held between February and March. There is a rest building on the north-east side of the East Gali Gopuram. There are shops selling puja materials outside the East Gali Gopuram. There is Yatra Niwas in this area. There are good facilities for pilgrims here. Lodges at Kanchipuram Bus Stand.
Kancheepuram railway station is located on Arkonam - Chengalpat railway line. There are local trains on this route. Along with these there are passenger train, express trains & weekly trains. The distance between Kanchipuram Railway Station and Kanchipuram Bus Stand is approximately four (4) kilo meters. There are transport facilities.
There is a bus station in the heart of Kancheepuram. There are buses to Kanchipuram from Tirupati, Arkonam, Vellore, Chittoor, Thiruvannamalai, Chengalpattu, Chennai etc. Shakti Ganapathi Hotel at Kancheepuram Bus Station Ingate and Outgate also has good snack & food stalls. There is also an Auto stand at the Outgate.
Sri Kamakshi Temple, Sri Ekambaranathan (Shivalayam) and Sri Varadarajan Temple (Vishnavialayam) are worth seeing in Kancheepuram. Besides these there are Shaivalayas like Sri Kailasa Nathan, Sri Kachhapeshwar, Kumaralayam and 14 Divyadeshas (Vaishnavisms). Taxis/autos are available to visit Kanchi temples. If you have patience/energy, you can see it in one day.
